Ingredients

  • 2 ounces tequila preferably blanco
  • 1 ounce orange liqueur such as Triple Sec or Cointreau
  • 0.75 ounce lime juice freshly squeezed for best flavor
  • 1 ½ cups ice cubes preferably small or crushed for easier blending
  • 1 tablespoon simple syrup optional, for added sweetness

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Add the tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, simple syrup (if using), and ice cubes into the blender.
  2. Secure the lid tightly and start blending on a high setting, allowing the ice to break down completely until the mixture is thick and slushy, with a smooth texture.
  3. Pause the blender to check the consistency; if it’s too thick, add a splash of lime juice or water and blend again briefly.
  4. Pour the frozen margarita slushie into chilled glasses, allowing the icy mixture to mound attractively over the rim.
  5. Garnish with lime wedges or a salt rim if desired, and serve immediately with a straw or small spoon for sipping.

Notes

For a smoother texture, crush the ice before blending. Adjust sweetness with more or less simple syrup according to taste.
