Vanilla Slushie

A vanilla slushie is a chilled dessert beverage made by blending ice with sweetened milk and vanilla flavoring. It results in a smooth, icy-textured drink with a creamy, translucent appearance and a fresh, vanilla aroma. The texture combines gritty ice with creamy undertones, perfect for hot days or a quick treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk chilled for best results
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract pure vanilla if possible
  • 2 cups ice cubes plus extra for serving glasses
  • 2 tablespoons sugar adjust to taste

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Measure out a cup of chilled milk, two teaspoons of vanilla extract, and two tablespoons of sugar, then set everything within reach of your blender.
  2. Add the milk into the blender along with the sugar and vanilla extract. Briefly pulse a few times to help the sugar start dissolving and to combine the flavors.
  3. Fill the blender with ice cubes, piling on top of the liquid ingredients—this will create that frosty, chunky appearance.
  4. Secure the lid tightly and blend on high speed for about 30-45 seconds, until the mixture is thick, slushy, and opaque with tiny ice shards.
  5. Once blended, open the lid and check the consistency—if it’s too thick, add a splash more milk and pulse again until smooth. If it’s too icy, stir in a little warm milk and blend briefly.
  6. Spoon the vanilla slushie into chilled glasses, using a spoon or ladle for a clean pour. If desired, garnish with a few extra ice cubes or a vanilla bean pod for presentation.
  7. Serve immediately with a straw or small spoon, enjoying the cool, creamy texture and fragrant vanilla aroma.

Notes

For an extra creamy texture, substitute part of the milk with condensed milk. Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar as desired. Freezing the glasses beforehand can enhance the cooling effect.
